Crystal River
Within 20 minutes of Citrus Springs lies the famous Crystal River, a seven-mile-long river that flows into the Gulf of Mexico. The area’s warm climate, untouched forests, and unique wildlife make for an ideal nature experience. Manatees call the Crystal River area home from November through March, as it harbors approximately 350 manatees during the winter. Some biologists consider Crystal River to be the most important refuge for manatees in the United States.
Withlacoochee State Forest
Withlacoochee State Forest is the third largest state forest in Florida, consisting of 406 acres. The acreage boasts an abundance of wildlife: Withlacoochee River, the Cypress Lake Preserve, and Nobleton Wayside Park. Also on the land is a 46-mile trail known as the Withlacoochee State Trail. The present-day trail was converted from old railroad lines built in the early 1900s and is now one of the longest paved rail-trails in Florida. It’s an ideal venue for all skills and fitness levels of walking, running, and cycling. The park includes other amenities such as playgrounds, camping, fishing, pavilions, canoeing, and kayaking.

Statewide, Florida has over 2,000 golf courses; Citrus Springs is the home to some of the most popular. The Black Diamond, Citrus Springs El Diablo, Citrus Springs Golf & Country Club, and Juliet Falls reside here. Florida’s subtropical climate allows Golf to be a year-round sport.
