Design with a Color Palette

The first step to designing your outdoor space is to choose a color palette you love. Building around a color palette will set the tone for the area you are trying to create and make the shopping process easier for you as well. Keep in mind that lighter and cooler colors make space feel more prominent, and darker and warmer colors make space feel smaller.

Purchase with a Plan

Before you start impulse buying furniture, consider how much space you have and what you want the space to be used for. If you plan to use the space for entertaining guests, we recommend an outdoor sectional with a lot of seating. If you plan to use the space for family dinners, we recommend a patio table. For maximum comfort, make sure the outdoor furniture you purchase fulfills the purpose you have for the space. Don’t over-buy and crowd the space; don’t under the purchase and leave the space feeling dull.

Also, remember that Florida’s weather can be very unpredictable. Remember to purchase quality outdoor furniture and all-weather outdoor rugs that will keep up with Florida’s climate.

Increase Aura with Decor

Choosing the right decor can set off the vibe you’re trying to accomplish with your outdoor space. Enhance positive vibes and tranquility by adding greenery or fresh flowers. Increase ambiance by hanging lanterns or a string of bulbs. Add a pop of color with throw pillows or curtains. Regardless of the vibe you’re going for, utilizing decor will help enhance your outdoor space.

Prepare for Florida Climate

Florida has a sub-tropical climate, with mild winters and hot, sunny summers. Instead of letting the weather determine if/when you can use your outdoor space, stay cool by purchasing fans, misters, or retractable awnings, and stay warm by buying a fireplace or heat lamp. During the summer months, it can be muggy with frequent thunderstorms. We recommend incorporating a covered patio to allow you to enjoy your outside space despite the rain. Unfortunately, due to the state’s climate, many species of bugs reside here. Upgrade your covered patio with a screened-in porch, so insects and bugs aren’t a pester while you’re trying to relax.
